Our Mission

To create thriving urban green spaces that bring communities together, promote sustainable living, and provide access to fresh, organic produce in Nairobi and Homa Bay County.

At Greenwood Community Garden, we believe that gardening is more than just growing plants – it's about growing communities. Since our establishment, we have been dedicated to creating inclusive spaces where people from all walks of life can come together to learn, share, and contribute to a more sustainable future.

Our Growing Story

2020 - The Seed of an Idea

A group of passionate neighbors in Nairobi CBD came together with a shared vision of creating green spaces in our urban environment. What started as conversations over coffee became the foundation of our community garden.

2021 - First Garden Established

Our first garden location was established on 11th Street, Kenyatta Avenue in Nairobi CBD. With 20 founding members and 15 initial plots, we began our journey of growing together.

2022 - Community Programs Launch

We expanded our mission beyond just gardening, launching educational workshops, composting programs, and seasonal community events that brought neighbors together.

2023 - Homa Bay Expansion

Responding to community interest, we expanded to Homa Bay County, bringing our gardening philosophy and community-building approach to rural areas.

2024-2025 - Growing Forward

Today, we're proud to have over 150 active members, 50 thriving garden plots, and a community that continues to grow stronger every season.
